BX students protest DOE consolidation
(03/08/12) THE BRONX - Bronx high school students stormed out of class today to protest the city's plan to add a third school into an already cramped facility.
Students at Schomburg Satellite Academy and Bronx Regional High School
rallied against the Department of Education's proposal to consolidate [ROADS] Charter High School into the same building. The schools currently
share libraries, a gym and a lunchroom.
Nearly 100 students marched to the office of state Sen. Ruben Diaz
(D-32nd District), where they received support from his educational
liaison.
A joint public hearing is scheduled for Mon., March 12.
